The first  tip  that I have used is to use a basic obedience training course to help out. I know that I have used this as a measure to help out when I have a very stubborn dog. Using the training course though to help with this task also helps you out with the other problems that you might encounter with your dog as they get older because the obedience training course will help you get their future behavior problems solved.

The second  tip  would be to have your puppy on a leash and keep your pet with you by your side at all times. This way you will be able to tell when they are starting to search for a spot to go potty at. Then you will be able to better recognize the signs of when they are going to have to go outside. I know that this method can be difficult though to accomplish because you have to keep your pet next to you the entire time, but it does work.
