All thieves know there are hiding places, you should store spare keys in your wallet or purse.

You should always check your vehicle if you here the alarm sound. It would not be smart to try to stop the person from stealing your car. Just call the police and give a good description. It would be a good idea to have some kind of anti theft device installed on your car, to try to keep it from being stolen. You could consider buying a car that has a locking ignition or steering column if you are going to have to leave it parked for extended periods of time. Another safety precaution would be to have the VIN number etched on all the windows to make sure the thief can"t get away with changing the VIN number on the car.

It really does take some common sense when it comes to protecting your car from thieves.
