There is no doubt that many people in our society have a desire to attain and maintain a fit and sexy figure. There are many ways to do so. Working out on a treadmill is one way to attain this shape. Here are a few  tips  to get into great shape with a treadmill.

Treadmills have been around for decades. There is no denying the calories burned and the total body conditioning that you can attain by engaging all your muscles through running. This may just be the most widely used form of cardiovascular exercise out there. There are actually ways to maximize the results you get from exercising on a treadmill. Here are a few  tips  to get the most out of working out on a treadmill:

Treadmill  Tip  #1 - Warm Up!

Warming up your muscles slowly will minimize the chances of injuring yourself. Many times, muscle tearing can occur if vigorous activity is engaged in prior to proper muscle warm up. If you are injured, you will be unable to work out! In this case, it would be wise to warm up and condition the muscles prior to participating in any activity.

Treadmill  Tip  #2 - Vary Your Speed and Incline

This  tip  serves two purposes. First of all, it will counter boredom by alternating speeds and inclines by changing things up a bit. Jogging at the same speed and incline for thirty to sixty minutes can be extremely boring. If you get bored of a certain activity, you are more likely to want to give up sooner than later.

To keep things interesting, change your speed every five minutes. You can also raise or lower your incline every few minutes to change things up a bit. Not only with this fight boredom, but it will encourage your body to adapt to changes in conditions.

Treadmill  Tip  #3 - Integrate Interval Training

Interval training works the body well and pushes it to its limits. It also counters boredom, which allows you to carry on with a workout for longer periods of time. Interval training involves alternating the heart rate, from slow, to intermediate, to fast-paced. A great example of interval training would be sprinting at a fast pace for about 30 seconds, then jog lightly for about 60 seconds. Continue this pattern for about 30 minutes.

Be Consistent and Regular

Exercise has wonderful effects on the body. However, if you don"t keep it up in regular, consistent intervals, it will do little good. The key is to work out at least 3 to 4 times per week, for at least 30 to 60 minutes each time. Consistency, combined with intensity and duration, is the key to getting in the best shape of your life.
